Dr Jason Franklin (G4), Founder Ktsis Capital (United States)

Jason is the Founder & Principal of Ktisis Capital, a strategic advisor to a mix of progressive individual donors, families, foundations and philanthropic collaboratives. He has spent over 25 years engaged in philanthropy across a wide range of roles, including donor advisor, scholar, grantmaker, family & independent trustee, and donor organizer. He serves as chair of the Michigan Alliance, is a co-founder and member of the Solidaire donor network, and is a member of the Threshold Foundation, Democracy Alliance, One for Democracy, Generation Pledge, and Smithsonian’s Philanthropy Initiative Working Group. He previously worked as the inaugural W.K. Kellogg Community Philanthropy Chair at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy and, before that, as Executive Director of Bolder Giving, an organization that inspired people to give big & take more risks with their philanthropy and was credited by Melinda Gates as an inspiration for the billionaire Giving Pledge. A serial social entrepreneur, he has founded or co-founded over a dozen enterprises, including the Solidaire donor network, Give OUT Day, NY Social Justice PAC, and Funding Queerly. He received his PhD in Public Administration from New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service. He also held an appointment for ten years as an award-winning adjunct professor teaching about philanthropy and social change.
